Elena Jordanov Elected to APHA Position

Leadership requires the ability to put yourself forward for leadership positions, to be able and willing to give of your time and yourself in support of service organizations. “Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.” This quote by the late justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg is more than just a slogan for JMC employee Elena Jordanov. Elena was elected by her peers in the 2020 Section Election to the post of Section Student Liaison in the Environmental Health (ENV) Section of the American Public Health Association (APHA). The APHA has a nearly 150-year history of championing the health of all people and communities. Her 1-year term began on October 29, 2020. Ms. Jordanov has already been active in the section, and has had a policy statement on Exposure Notification Systems for infectious disease outbreaks selected to go to the public hearing for submission as a late-breaker at the APHA Annual Meeting Oct. 24-29, 2020.
